Calvert County's Libraries

The new central library opened on Halloween, 2006

There are branches of the Calvert library system in Owings, Chesapeake Beach, and Solomons as well as the main library in Prince Frederick. There also is an Outreach Van the delivers loaners to shut-ins and senior housing.

The Prince Frederick branch offers computer classes, tutoring rooms, a quiet study room, a special children's section on the mezzanine, including the storytime room. The tutoring rooms are frequently used by the Literacy Council for free adult tutoring.

Overlooking the well-used computers and stacks on the main floor. Free WIFI is also available throughout the library.

Children's Section

The library hosts numerous special programs for all ages: speakers, meet the authors, book discussions, movies, workshops, computer training...

Story Time is especially popular.

Nintendo Wii for seniors is a new program destined to become popular. Games include bowling, tennis, baseball pingpong, skeet... Multiple screens available—all can play.
