Eating Out in Calvert County

At first glance, dining in the county appears to be limited to Taco Bell, McDonalds, Wendy's, and Appleby's. Fast food franchises are, indeed, clustered around Prince Frederick and the other town centers strung out along Route 4.

At second glance, there are some fine places to eat out. Family-owned restaurants, featuring their own specialties and ambiance. Sea food, Japanese and Chinese, meat-and-potatoes, health foods... and, in recent years, metro area restaurants such as Outback Steakhouse, Ledo's Pizza, and Red Hot & Blue have opened in Calvert.

Jasper's American Grille Featuring aged premium beef, cooked over hickory wood-burning grills, fresh fish filleted daily, signature rolls are baked in their kitchen every 20 minutes, seasonal fresh vegetables grown locally. Casual takes on a new meaning in the bar, featuring 12 jumbo screens, always open until the game is over. Located in Prince Frederick, just off of Route 2/4, across from the fire house.

Naughty Gull Restaurant & Pub Overlooking one of Solomons' sailing marinas, the atmosphere is casual, the service is superb, and the food is hearty.

Adam's The Place For Ribs. Specializing in baby back ribs, a favorite meeting place for groups for lunch or dinner.

Boomerangs Original Ribs on Route 765 just north of Solomons. Great ribs and good coleslaw. They have an extensive menu and also cater.

DiGiovanni's Dock of the Bay, waterfront dining in Solomons. Italian seafood.

The Old Field Inn is a long-time favorite for families.

The best crab cake on the East Coast may be found at Stoney's at Broome Island. Their steamed crabs are prepared with just the right amount of Old Bay and served in the traditional fashion. Come in the evening and watch the sun set over the Patuxent. Stoney's dock is available for boaters.
